Types of False Eyelashes: Take Your Eye Makeup to the Next Level

As much as makeup trends change through the years, one thing has remained the same – the desire to accentuate the eyelashes. Having long, thick and curvy eyelashes has always been something women wanted. We use mascaras and lash curlers to make our eyes pop, but let’s be honest here, nothing beats the stunning look of good old false eyelashes, right?

Although we don’t wear them every day, the effect they give can’t be compared to any other eye makeup product. They open up your eyes, make them look bigger and more dramatic. If you want to buy lashes for a big event, or just because you feel like getting a pair and don’t know which one is best for you, you could easily get confused. When searching for fake eyelashes online, you’ll come across various options and you could easily get confused – which ones are the right ones for you. There are many types and you should choose the ones that you like.

How Falsies Can Improve Your Whole Look

Using falsies can make a dramatic change in your makeup. It is like the final touch that somehow makes everything different. They make your eyes pop and look bigger, catty, dreamy, you get it. Even though you will use mascara, it simply doesn’t have the power to make your natural lashes look as thick, as dark and as long and curvy, as a pair of fake eyelashes. There is no rule when you can wear them, even though most ladies prefer to wear a pair for big events.

Types of Fake Eyelashes

If you’ve beenchecking out the range of fake eyelashes onlineyou have probably seen that there are various types. Some come in the form of individual lashes, others are a strip, with included glue, without glue and so on. Here are the types of false eyelashes you can find in any store.

Individual

These lashes are made to look like one tiny strip of lash (it usually has two pieces of hair). The band is shorter than the regular strip lashes, which makes it much easier for you to create the look you want and are ideal for everyday use. You can apply them in the middle of your eye and create a more ‘awaken’ look, or add more pieces at the outer corner of the eye and make a catty look. Individual lashes are excellent because you get different lengths in one box.

If you’re a beginner, using individual fake lashes will give you more control when applying them. You can find individual lashes made of silk, mink and human hair. Make sure to choose the right colour so it can fit your natural lash colour. These lashes require glue but in a very small amount; apply a tiny bit onto the lash and let it get tacky before applying it. Use tweezers or an applicator to put them onto your lash line.

Strip

The strip lashes are the most popular ones and you can find them in every drugstore or online. They are made of a horizontal strip with faux lashes applied to them. Even though beginners have a shaky hand, in fact, a strip is very easy for application.

You can use tweezers or an applicator, place the lash first in the middle of your eyes and then press onto the inner and outer corner. But before you do that, make sure to measure the lashes. If it’s too long, cut off the inner part (0.5-1 cm) apply the glue, let it dry for 10-20 seconds (till it’s tacky) and place them on your eyelid. It takes a little practice before you become a pro.

There are various types of these lashes as well. For instance, if you have round eyes, get winged and curly lashes so you can make a catty eye look. For mono-lids get multi-layered lashes, and for hooded eyelids, you can go with a model with longer lashes in the middle, so your eye can look more opened in the centre. Some lashes have a nude, others have a black strip. There isn’t a rule for this; choose whatever you want. A nude or transparent strip gives a more natural look, while the black one will provide you with a more definition (as if you have applied eyeliner).

Magnetic

These are pretty new on the market, but people love them. The fact that there is no glue and all you need to do is separate the lashes and add them onto yours (the magnets will then attract each other) makes them super easy and convenient for use even for beginners. These lashes are reusable thanks to the micro-magnets. They will keep the lashes strong onto your eyelids without the risk of falling.

They are usually made of synthetic or human hair. To remove them or reposition them, simply rub the hair with your fingers and the magnets will slide away from each other. Remember not to pull the lashes as you do with regular falsies.

Cluster

These are a mix between a strip and individual lashes. They have more lashes than individual ones and less than a strip. Usually, they come with two or three bands joined together. They are amazing if you want to put an accent onto a certain part of your eyes. These lashes give a fuller and bolder look without making too much drama. If you need lashes for a more natural look choose a cluster with lesser hair, while for a more dramatic look choose lashes with longer, curvier and thicker hair. Apply them just like you apply the strip lashes, but use lesser glue (use tweezers or an applicator).
